TECNOMEN PROVIDES VISUAL VOICEMAIL TO SWISSCOM – SUPPORTS APPLE’S IPHONE

Tecnomen has implemented a Visual Voicemail application for Swisscom AG, supporting the company’s launch of the Apple iPhone.

Visual Voicemail provides visual interactivity to end users for voice mail messages. In contrast to the traditional voicemail message retrieval method of calling in to a voicemail service number, visual voicemail users receive messages as they are automatically downloaded to their handsets. In addition, intuitive user interfaces and high functionality give end users the ability to easily change settings as well as personalise their voicemail accounts and greetings.

The Visual Voicemail delivery to Swisscom includes a Visual Voicemail Gateway, providing interfaces between the backend voicemail system and mobile handsets. The Visual Voicemail Gateway functions independently from the voicemail backend and thus supports all generations of Tecnomen’s messaging platforms, including its latest Next Generation Messaging solution.

Swisscom commenced Apple iPhone sales on July 11th 2008 with full Visual Voicemail functionality. “Tecnomen provided excellent support by developing, integrating and testing Visual Voicemail within our architecture in less than 10 weeks and in concert with both us and our handset partner. We are extremely pleased to have achieved our goal of being the only Swiss operator to provide full Visual Voicemail functionality as an integral part of our iPhone service offering immediately upon launch”, says Markus Doetsch, Head of Product IT and Product Development, Swisscom AG.

Visual Voicemail functionality is expected to expand from Apple iPhone handsets to other popular smart phones in the market, and Tecnomen, with its 30 years of experience, is ideally positioned to support operators in this expansion. “Apple has completely reinvented the market understanding of voicemail with the introduction of Visual Voicemail, and we are proud to be at the forefront of this innovation”, says Miika Reinikka, VP Messaging, Tecnomen.
